Ted Jr is a 5th generation native of the Flathead Valley in northwest Montana. He has remained in NW Montana since being born here in 1959. In 1998, after 25 years of retail sales and management, Ted Jr joined his father, Ted Dykstra Sr, in the family owned brokerage, Ted Dykstra Real Estate. During the summer of 2003 Ted Jr purchased the brokerage from Ted Sr. and in November of 2007 Ted Jr sold the brokerage to ERA Lambros and was retained as Broker.

Ted Jr was elected the 2003-2004 and 2007-2008 President of the Northwest Montana Association of REALTORS and he serves on numerous committees at both local and state association levels. In spring of 2007 Ted Jr was chosen as Northwest Montana's REALTOR of the Year. In the fall of 2007 Ted Jr received the distinction of being chosen the 2007 REALTOR of the Year for the State of Montana. This honor is a once in a lifetime award.
